Man In Critical Condition After Shooting On Route 1A In Revere

REVERE (CBS) – State Police are investigating a shooting on near the Wonderland Ballroom in Revere that sent a man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police found the 34-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in a car in the southbound lane of Route 1A at about 5:20 pm.

He was taken to Mass General Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. According to State Police, the man is not from Massachusetts.

Witnesses say the man was shot in the neck.

"I saw a guy just leaning down and he had a shot in his neck," said Anik Rahman.

Anik Rahman, who did not want WBZ to show his face out of fear of retaliation, said good Samaritans tried to help the victim, who has not been identified. He was driving a white Infiniti coupe with Maryland plates.

Revere and State Police are seeking information from motorists who were in the area at the time of the shooting who may have witnessed any type of altercation between vehicles in the area.

Route 1A was closed in both directions at Butler Circle while police investigated. The southbound lanes were reopened at about 9:00 pm.
