5 Children Rescued From Plymouth Pond After Dock Floats Away

PLYMOUTH (CBS) – Five children who couldn't swim had to be rescued from a Plymouth pond after they jumped onto a dock and it floated away.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Massachusetts State Police air wing was called to help local police and firefighters at Bloody Pond. Firefighters say the group from nearby Home For Little Wanderers unhooked the dock and they floated away. The home reported them missing a short time later.

The helicopter was able to hover over the group and shine a light known as the "night sun" on them until a rescue boat could reach the dock.

"Great collaborative effort!" State Police said.
