1 Killed, 3 Wounded In Dorchester Shooting

BOSTON (CBS) - One man was killed and three were wounded in a shooting in Dorchester Wednesday night.

"This is crazy this never happened before. This like rarely happens," resident Patricia Sorenson said.

Police say four men in their 30s were sitting in a stopped car on Windermere Road in Dorchester Wednesday evening when someone walked by on foot and opened fire - instantly killing one of them and injuring the other three.

"It definitely appears to us to be not random, possibility that the parties were known to each other," Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said.

The crime scene was right near the St. Mary's Center for Women and Children. Neighbors say this community is tight knit.

"We all know each other here," said Sorenson. "We all look out for each other, you know? It's just crazy that this happened."

Family members were crying in the streets when they learned the news their loved one was killed - marking Boston's 12th homicide already this year.

"These neighborhoods, we deserve to be safe here," Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins said. "We are going to be working as hard as we can to get this family some answers."

Now police are asking for the public's help to find the shooter.

"We're hoping to get video evidence or eyewitnesses, and if anyone has seen anything please contact us," Gross said.

The other three victims are expected to survive - and police say they'll be back at the scene Thursday to pick up the investigation.
