Middleboro Police: Reported Attempted Abduction Did Not Happen

MIDDLEBORO (CBS) -- Middleboro Police say there is no danger to the public after a woman reported an attempted abduction Monday afternoon. "Through a thorough investigation into the alleged incident, police have determined that the attempted abduction did not occur," said police.

Initially, police reported a man tried to abduct a 27-year-old woman by grabbing her from behind and pushing her toward his van. The woman told police she was walking on Clay Street around 12:45 p.m.

She reportedly freed herself from the man and ran away into the woods to get away before calling police.

Her story was determined to be untrue, police said.
