"This is the first morning that I woke up and wasn't completely exhausted," said Brady, who has been to Super Bowl parades at Disney World and Boston this week.

He spoke a little bit about the playoff beard tradition among athletes before the shave.

"The symbolism is I'm not doing anything else but focusing on trying to win a championship," Brady said. "So when you grow the beard out it's kind of like, screw it. . . just try to win."

He took some questions during the event, divulging that he's indulged in margaritas since winning, he's going on vacation to Costa Rica and no, he's not running for president.

After the ceremonial shave, Gillette donated $35,000 each to the Boys and Girls Club of South Boston, Best Buddies and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Brady also signed a Patriots-branded Gillette razor which will then be auctioned off. That money will go to Brady's favorite charities.

He did not bring along Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman, who promised he would shave his beard after the game.
