Harvard Beats Yale, 45-27, At Fenway Park In 135th Version Of 'The Game'
BOSTON (AP) — Tom Stewart threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns before being taken off the field in a stretcher and Harvard beat Yale 45-27 Saturday at Fenway Park in the 135th meeting.
Stewart was injured on an option play as he slid and was hit by Yale defensive back Miles Oldacre. An injury report wasn't immediately available.
Devin Darrington carried it nine times for 91 yards and two touchdowns for Harvard (6-4, 4-3 Ivy League), which had 605 total yards. Tyler Adams added five carries for 125 yards and a score and Jack Cook made four catches for 116 yards and a TD. Both of Henry Taylor's catches went for touchdowns, totaling 41 yards. Jake McIntyre made a 36-yard field goal with 11:13 remaining to extend Harvard's lead to 31-27 and tie the program record for most career field goals.
Griffin O'Connor threw for 328 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions for Yale (5-5, 3-4). The Bulldogs were outgained 293-83 on the ground.
The 72 combined points were the most in the history of the rivalry, played in front of 34,675 fans at the home of the Boston Red Sox. The game marked the 50th anniversary of the 1968 classic in which Harvard scored 16 points in the final 42 seconds to tie Yale 29-29.
