2-Year-Old Girl Dies After Falling From Window In Fitchburg
FITCHBURG (CBS) – A 2-year-old girl who fell from a window in Fitchburg has died.
Fire rescue is directly across the street from the building where the toddler fell, but she died after plummeting from a fourth floor window to the parking lot.
Residents were stunned as they returned home to the Willow Loft Apartments near downtown Fitchburg.
"The neighbor was there to console the mother and apparently the neighbor worked with the mother and knew them and she said they are a very nice family," neighbor William Reitzell aid.
Around 4:30 p.m., the child's mother called 911 saying her daughter fell.
"It's a tragedy it breaks everyone's heart when children are involved," said Fitchburg Police Chief Ernest Martineau. "It affects each and every one of us, we all have children we all have loved ones, these are some of the toughest calls you may face in public safety."
State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office are investigating.
