BRAINTREE (CBS) – A 94-year-old woman was killed in a two-car crash in Braintree late Friday morning.

The cars collided head-on on Washington Street at Wampatuck Road shortly after 10 a.m.

Catherine Aveni, 94, of Holbrook was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police said Aveni was driving her Toyota Camry north when she veered into the southbound lane and crashed into a Cadillac STS sedan. The driver of the Cadillac and her child were taken to South Shore Hospital and transferred to Boston for treatment.

It is not known what caused Aveni to veer into the other vehicle. Police said there are no indications of intoxication.
