Man Killed In Dorchester Shooting

BOSTON (CBS) - One man was shot and killed in a shooting on Evans Street on Saturday afternoon, in the second fatal shooting in Dorchester in two days.

On Friday, a 35-year-old man was shot and killed on Wayland Street in Dorchester.

"Broad daylight, a lot of people out, this stuff shouldn't be happening," Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said at Saturday's shooting scene.

Police do not believe the two fatal shootings are connected or random.

Around 4 p.m. Saturday, police responded to Evans Street after receiving a report of a person shot.

The victim, in his late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was found in a red Ford Escape with a gunshot wound to the head.

"(It was) clearly targeted to the vehicle," Evans said. "You know, another vehicle rode up on it, fired shots into the vehicle, so clearly it's not a random act."

Police believe the gunman drove off in a car down Hopkins Street.

"If anyone did see something, please step up, because we need to get who's responsible for this," Evans said, urging the public to come forward to police with any information on the shooting.

Yellow police tape blocked off the Ford before it was towed away from the scene.

One woman was seen crying on Evans Street as investigators combed the area for evidence.

Police are searching for the gunmen in both shootings on Friday and Saturday.

Anyone with information on the shootings is urged to call Boston Police at 617-343-4470 or the tip line at 800-494-TIPS.
