224,000 Power Outages In Massachusetts, May Be Out For Days

BOSTON (CBS) - More than 224,000 homes and businesses have no electricity as heavy, wet snow pulled down power lines and trees across Massachusetts Thursday.

And they may not have power for days.

"We do not have any estimated restoration times at this moment, but will provide them as soon as we have them," Eversource tweeted late Thursday morning.

"Please plan to be without power for multiple days as we work through this restoration."

According to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), the entire towns of Groton and Newbury were in the dark.

Several other communities had more than 90-percent of residents with no electricity because of the nor'easter.

Earlier in the day, more than 360,000 customers were without power.
