Police Cruiser Goes Up In Flames Next To Station

QUINCY (CBS) -- A Quincy police cruiser caught fire while it was parked in the department's parking lot on Monday morning.

The department tweeted a video of the car ablaze on their "back deck."

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames but the cruiser was completely destroyed.

Police said the officer assigned to the cruiser has just parked it and got into the station. That was when another officer noticed smoke.

About $50,000 worth of damage was done between the burned car and the equipment in it that was lost, including an M4 rifle and ammunition, according to Police Captain Duggan.

The fire department is looking into what started the fire.

No one was hurt.
