BOSTON (CBS) – The pig who was once so overfed and so overweight she could barely stand is getting a new home.

In June Maybelle was turned over to the Animal Rescue League from a home in Billerica. At the time she weighed nearly 200 pounds, a weight which put her life at risk.

Since then she’s dropped about 25 pounds and is better able to move around.

Her new owners took her home Saturday to a shelter built especially for her size.

“We had a big before, for twenty years, so we kind of know what we are getting into. And we wanted to help her since she was abused,” said new owner Gail Pepe.
