FRANKLIN (CBS) — The remains found in Franklin on Saturday afternoon have officially been identified as Michael Doherty, a Duke University student missing for over a week.

The Norfolk District Attorney’s office announced the medical examiner’s results on Monday morning.

Officials said there was no sign of foul play.

Doherty, who had just returned to Franklin for the summer, attended a party last Saturday night and had not been seen since he said he was walking home Sunday morning.

Officials, community members, friends, and family searched the path where Doherty was believed to be walking home on, as well as through neighboring towns.
