Murder Investigation Underway After Bodies Found In Peabody Home

PEABODY (CBS) - A murder investigation is underway after two people were found brutally murdered inside a Peabody home.

Essex District Attorney Jon Blodgett said Sunday the bodies of at least one man and one woman were found inside a Farm Ave. home.

Law enforcement sources told WBZ-TV a man and his girlfriend were found shot to death, their bodies wrapped in rugs and plastic.

WBZ-TV has learned that police have issued a "be on the lookout" alert for two suspects involved in the murders. They are believed to be driving a stolen 1992 Acura and may be armed.

Blodgett told reporters that a woman ran from the bungalow-style home on Farm Avenue Saturday night, flagging down a driver and telling police that a crime had been committed there.

Sources told WBZ-TV chief investigative reporter Cheryl Fiandaca that police found several body parts and a bloody crime scene.

The man and woman were identified, and authorities said the victims and suspect knew one another. Their names were not being released until their families were notified.

Blodgett said there is an active homicide investigation, and that x-ray equipment and K-9 units were being brought to the scene.

"The crime scene is very difficult right now, it's quite messy," said Blodgett. "We're doing our best to sift through this. It takes time. The medical examiner's office is on the way, and we're using all those resources to ascertain exactly what happened at this property."

The home was known to Peabody Police, who said the murders were not a random act.

"There's been activity here before which necessitated the police department's response," said Blodgett.

Peabody and Massachusetts State Police used various resources to determine just how many bodies were in the home.

Police remained on scene into the evening hours, and a vehicle was towed from the house Sunday night.
