Electrical Short Sparked 6-Alarm Charlestown Fire, Officials Say

BOSTON (CBS) -- Fire investigators in Charlestown have zeroed in on the cause of that massive fire on Friday.

Officials say an electrical short circuit in the ceiling of Monument Laundromat, where the blaze started, is to blame.

The laundromat was totaled and a half-dozen apartments were destroyed, as crews battled frozen hydrants and frigid temperatures.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Friends of the Monument Laundromat owners started a GoFundMe page to raise money to support them.

The fire caused about $2 million in damage.
