FALMOUTH (CBS) — A 9-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was hit by a car.

Firefighters responded to a pedestrian accident near 174 Sandwich Road on Saturday at about 3:40 p.m. The girl who was hit was seriously injured, but emergency crews say her injuries are not life-threatening.

An 89-year-old Falmouth man driving a 2011 Toyota Camry stayed on scene after he apparently struck the girl while she was crossing the street with an adult, police say. The adult was not injured.

The girl was first taken to Falmouth Hospital, but she was later transported to Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Medflight was requested for the girl, but could not fly because of the weather.
