What's Up This Weekend: December 16-18

BOSTON - Caroling, holiday film favorites on the big screen, and all the Italian food you can eat. That's just some of What's Up This Weekend.

CAROLING AT THE CAROUSEL
Friday night is the last chance to join Caroling at the Carousel on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Sing the songs of the season, led by the NEMPAC Community Holiday Choir, and featuring a special appearance by the Dancing Bear from Boston Ballet's The Nutcracker. The caroling and hot chocolate are free. Carousel rides cost $3. The event runs 5:30-6:30 p.m. MORE: rosekennedygreenway.org

STAR WARS IS BACK
The much anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters Friday. The seventh Star Wars film takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and focuses on the formation of the Rebel Alliance and the earliest stages of The Death Star. FREE HOLIDAY MOVIE
This is the last weekend to take advantage of Showcase Cinemas Free Holiday Classics on the big screen. Your admission is a donation of non-perishable food to benefit a local food pantry. Saturday morning at 10am White Christmas is showing at the following Showcase Cinemas: Legacy Place, Lowell, Patriot Place, Randolph, Revere, and Woburn. MORE: showcasecinemas.com

HOLIDAY DRIVE-IN
Looking for one of the more modern holiday favorites? The Mendon Twin Drive-In is showing a double feature of Elf and Home Alone on the big screen this weekend. Elf starts around 7 p.m., followed by Home Alone around 9 p.m. [Rogue One is showing on their other screen!] It costs $27 per car, for up to six people. MORE: mendondrivein.com

ZOOLIGHTS
Experience Stone Zoo like you can only do at holiday time. Thousands of lights turn the zoo into a winter wonderland. You can visit with Santa, take photos with real live reindeer, and some of the zoo's heartiest animals could come out to greet you. Zoo Lights opens each night at 5, and costs $9. HAVE YOU HEARD?
There is a new Italian dining emporium taking Boston by storm. Eataly opened in the Prudential Center late last month. The 45,000 square foot Italian marketplace has four restaurants, 10 takeaway counters, five bars and a huge selection of groceries. In the first night alone, customer gobbled down 2,000 slices of pizza, 700 cannoli, 500 loaves of bread, and hundreds of pounds of cheese. MORE: eataly.com

WARM UP WITH SOME SPICE
