By Mike "Sarge" Riley, 98.5 The Sports Hub and WBZ NewsRadio 1030

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston has always been considered a "hockey town" by many, and during the 1960's and 1970's the sports was never more popular.

The film "Banner Years: The Golden Era of Hockey in Massachusetts" will bring you back to that era. Longtime voice of the Patriots and WBZ Radio Hall of Famer Gil Santos is the narrator of the film.

The film highlights some of the best high schools during that time, including Arlington, Norwood, Walpole, Melrose and Needham.

In addition, the film takes a look at the Bobby Orr-led Bruins winning a pair of Stanley Cup championships in the 1970's.

"Banner Years" will feature appearances by former Bruins Eddie Johnston, Derek Sanderson and Mike Millbury.

Former Bruins coach Robbie Ftorek (Needham), highly regarded as perhaps the greatest high school hockey player of all time, is interviewed in the film. And Norwood native Richie Hebner, who went onto play with the Pittsburgh Pirates, makes an appearance.

Executive Producer Jerry Kelleher says the film took two years to complete, and his masterpiece will be shown on Saturday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Norwood Theatre.

There will be two showings at the Arlington Regent Theatre -- Saturday, December 17 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 18 at 1 p.m.
