3 Mass. Natives Missing In Deadly Oakland Warehouse Blaze

BOSTON (CBS) – At least three people from Massachusetts are feared dead in the massive warehouse fire in Oakland.

The pain is still raw for heartbroken family and friends in the Boston area. Amanda Kershaw, 34, originally from Chelmsford, Micah Danemeyer from Somerville and 38-year-old Peter Wadsworth from Cohasset were all last seen alive shortly before the fire.

"I expected Amanda to have a long and full life and I can't believe that she's really gone," said Peter Sylvain, Kershaw's friend.

WBZ has since learned that Wadsworth lived inside the building. Reveler Bob Mule says he fell while trying to escape. Mule tried to save him. "The smoke was getting too bad," Mule said. "I had to leave him there."

Amanda Kershaw, who grew up as Amanda Allen in Chelmsford, is also missing.

"It felt like a bad dream," said Amanda's brother Chris Allen.

Allen says his sister loves music and photography. She was at the warehouse party Friday night supporting her friends who were musicians. Allen says Amanda is a twin with three younger brothers.

"She was someone that my brothers and I always admired and looked up to and sort of looked at her as the rock," said Allen.

Amanda was also an influential high school friend for Peter Sylvain. He wishes he could speak with her just one more time.

"I think she would say 'Why are you so sad Pete?' Because I think she would want us all happy. We just all love her and miss her very much," Peter Sylvain said.

The warehouse was under investigation for code violations. The total number of confirmed dead is at 36.
