Jacoby Brissett Reportedly Set To Return To Practice

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots will have a third quarterback at practice starting on Wednesday.

Third-stringer Jacoby Brissett is set to return to the practice field, according to The Boston Globe's Ben Volin.

Brissett has been on the IR since October 7 after suffering a thumb injury during his Week 3 start against the Houston Texans. He played hurt in Week 4 in a 16-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills, and finished his two-and-a-half game run as New England's starting quarterback completing 62 percent of his passes for 400 yards while rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown.

The Patriots went 2-1 with Brissett under center after he replaced an injured Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 2.

When Brissett does return to practice, designated as the team's IR-return player, the Patriots will have 21 days to put him on their 53-man roster. If they don't think he's worth a roster spot at that time, the rookie can simply return to the IR with three extra weeks of practice under his belt.
