Woman Hit By Car On Route 9 In Framingham Expected To Survive
FRAMINGHAM (CBS) -- Police are investigating a pedestrian accident on Route 9 in Framingham.
Firefighters say a Honda driving westbound on Route 9 struck a 50-year-old woman near the intersection of Prospect Street around 6 p.m. on Friday.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, firefighters say the victim was unresponsive. She was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with head injuries, but she is expected to be OK.
Police shut down the westbound lane after the accident. The road was re-opened around 8 p.m. Friday.
Though there is a crosswalk at the intersection where the woman was hit, residents in a nearby apartment complex told WBZ-TV's Paul Burton that traffic, particularly during this holiday shopping season, make it a dangerous place to cross the street.
"I would not think of it," one resident said. "I drive across the street."
"I just worry for people and it's not the safest intersection," Chelsea Nee said.
No charges had been filed on Friday.
