How To Prepare For Black Friday And Get The Best Deals

BOSTON (CBS) – Thousands of holiday shoppers are expected to hit the stores and malls on Black Friday.

Consumer advocate Edgar Dworsky of Consumerworld.org has several tips for those who want to get a jump on the bargains.

His advice begins with doing some homework and getting those Black Friday advertisements in advance.

"You can go to a web site called BFads.net. They have copies of all the circulars, so you don't have to wait until Thursday's newspaper to begin to look at all the things that are on sale," Dworsky told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

He recommends shoppers do a run-through of stores ahead of time because there are limited quantities of all these items and they might be in different parts of each store.

"For example, I looked at the Wal-Mart map, they already have it online. Some of the laptops are in the garden department and some of the TV's are in the food department. So, if you go running to the electronics department thinking that's where you'll find the item, that won't be the case."

Dworsky suggests checking store web sites regularly Wednesday night and Thursday.

"Believe or not, Target, J.C. Penney's and Macy's already have many of their Black Friday items online," he said.

Dworsky adds more stores will put additional items online Thanksgiving Day.
