Route 128 Northbound In Needham Shut Down For Bridge Demolition
NEEDHAM (CBS) - Route 128 Northbound in Needham was shut down Friday night as crews began to demolish a decades-old bridge.
MassDOT is closing a section of the highway so that crews can take down the old Highland Avenue bridge. It's part of an ongoing project that will widen the highway to four lanes.

Work on the northbound side of Route 128/I-95 began at 8:50 p.m. on Friday and will continue until 3 p.m. on Saturday. Then, the southbound lanes will be shut down from 6 p.m. on Saturday until 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Traffic will be diverted to local roads during the closure. MassDOT has maps of all the detour routes here.
Drivers are asked to slow down in the construction area, and extra police and signage will be in place to guide traffic.
