Sweetened Drinks Associated With Higher Risk Of Diabetes

BOSTON (CBS) - According to a new study out of Sweden, people who drink two or more sweetened drinks a day may have double the risk of diabetes, and the risk is about the same whether the drinks are sweetened with sugar or artificial sweeteners.

It's not clear that drinking these beverages actually causes diabetes or whether people who consume these drinks also tend to lead unhealthier lifestyles that could raise their risk of diabetes.

So research needs to be done to look at the potential connection.
