District Attorney Releases Final Report In Taunton Rampage

TAUNTON (CBS) -- More than five months after Arthur DaRosa went on a rampage, killing two in Taunton, the District Attorney's office released its final report on the killings.

The District Attorney concluded DaRosa murdered Patricia Slavin and George Heath during a rampage that started in a woman's home and ended at the Silver City Galleria shopping mall at around 7 p.m. on May 10.

DaRosa killed two and wounded five before off-duty Plymouth County Deputy Sheriff James Creed shot and killed the 28-year-old. Creed was justified in shooting DaRosa, the District Attorney's office found.

On May 10, DaRosa crashed a car outside a Myricks Street home, where he entered and stabbed the two women inside. 80-year-old Patricia Slavin died as a result of the attack. DaRosa then went to the mall, where he crashed into Macy's and beat several people inside. He then went into Bertucci's, where he stabbed waitress Sheena Savoy and killed customer George Heath when Heath tried to intervene.

DaRosa's family said he suffered from psychiatric issues, and the attack could have been prevented. DaRosa had been treated and released from Morton Hospital 24 hours before he went on the rampage. Authorities found the hospital followed appropriate protocol in treating DaRosa.
