High School Teacher Charged With Soliciting Nude Photos From Student

MERRIMACK, N.H. (CBS) – A New Hampshire high school teacher was arrested Monday and charged with soliciting nude pictures and videos from one of his students.

Robert Wiley, a Merrimack High School teacher who lives in Milford, was charged with criminal solicitation to the manufacturing of images of child abuse and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say Wiley, an English and Philosophy teacher of 37 years, had been meeting with and speaking to one of his students outside the classroom.

They say Wiley solicited naked photos from the girl and sent the victim nude photos and graphic videos of himself.

"The parents of the girl went to the police over Columbus Day weekend and reported that there had been inappropriate emailing going on," Merrimack Superintendent of Schools Marge Chiafery said.

Chiafery said she removed Wiley from the classroom immediately after learning of the allegations against him.

Wiley submitted a letter for retirement last week and the school board accepted his retirement on Monday.

Chiafery also released a statement and sent out a message to Merrimack High School parents:

The District is saddened by the news that one of our staff has been charged with this conduct. Our students are our primary concern and we do not tolerate or condone this behavior. We want to assure the community that we have cooperated fully with the police who is handling this investigation. We have communicated with families and will be working with our staff to provide counseling services to students who may need it.

Wiley was released on $20,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on December 1 in Merrimack Division Court.
