Worcester Regional Airport Receives $7.75 Million Grant
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — The Worcester Regional Airport has been awarded a $7.75 million federal grant to support taxiway construction and to continue work to increase airport capacity.
U.S. Rep. James McGovern says the grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation will help keep the regional economy strong by allowing the airport to invest in infrastructure that attracts businesses.
The grant will provide for the reconstruction of Surface Movement Guidance Control System, route taxiways and installation of the lighting system infrastructure necessary for the approach lighting system.
The grant is in addition to $3 million from the Federal Aviation Administration for the airport's Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting station, and $2.7 million from the FAA for the first phase of a project to build a partial parallel taxiway to a runway.
