Wrong-Way Driver Charged With DWI After Causing Trooper To Crash

CONCORD, N.H. (CBS) – A wrong-way driver was charged with drunk driving early Saturday morning after causing a New Hampshire state trooper to crash into a guardrail.

The trooper was driving north on Interstate 93 near Exit 13 in Concord when he saw a man in a black Cadillac driving toward him.

In an effort to avoid a head-on collision, the trooper swerved safely out of the way, but as a result crashed into a guardrail.

The driver, identified as Gregory Dumais of Hillsboro, pulled over to the side of the road.

He was arrested and charged with drunk driving and reckless conduct.

Dumais was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned October 28.

The state trooper who crashed was taken to Concord Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
