Officer Injured In East Boston Shootout Undergoes Further Surgery
BOSTON (CBS) – One of the officers injured in an East Boston shootout underwent another surgery on Saturday.
Officer Matt Morris is "recovering well" at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Police said.
On Saturday morning, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans visited Officer Richard Cintolo who was also injured in the shootout.
Evans described Cintolo as "in good spirits." Cintolo is recovering from a surgery on Friday.
"We are grateful to the staff at MGH for their life-saving work," Boston Police said.
Morris and Cintolo were shot late Wednesday night on Gladstone Street in East Boston while responding to a domestic violence call.
Police returned fire, shooting and killing the gunman, later identified as Kirk Figueroa.
