Seven Stabbed In Boston's Theatre District

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston Police said seven people were hurt in an early morning stabbing in the Theatre District Sunday.

Police responded to the stabbing around 2:13 a.m. on Tremont Street.

Joe Mellen, who works at Tufts Parking Garage, witnessed the incident.

"I noticed a gigantic brawl right across the street right by that bus stop, 20 to 30 people," Mellen told WBZ-TV.  "There was yelling. I couldn't make out anything, you couldn't really tell who was fighting who. It was just a gigantic mess."

Four people were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

In addition, three more victims went to local hospitals as walk-in patients.

Sources tell WBZ-TV that a witness told police that one of the suspects is a former employee at a nearby club.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh says he wants to see change.

"We've had some incidents in the past in that particular area," Walsh said Sunday morning. "People should be able to go out and have a good time without causing all that chaos, without violence."
