PLYMOUTH (CBS) – Crews in Plymouth were searching for a swimmer who went missing in Great Herring Pond Wednesday afternoon.

The 26-year-old man was in a boat with two other people when he went swimming. Fire officials say he could not catch up to the boat after it drifted away from him.

Crews responded to the pond at about 4:00 p.m. Divers searched the water and a Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter flew over the pond looking for the man.

The search was suspended due to inclement weather and will resume Thursday morning.

The man’s name has not been released.
