High School Boys Solicited For Naked Photos On Snapchat

WESTON (CBS) - It is one of the most popular social media apps for teens, but now school administrators in Weston fear someone has been using Snapchat to target and take advantage of unsuspecting minors.

Last Friday, administrators learned someone created a fake account and tried to solicit sexually explicit pictures from students. The police department was notified, and upon further investigation, it was determined sophomore boys at the high school were specifically targeted and what's more, some of them may have responded with compromising photographs.

On Tuesday, the school's principal addressed the entire sophomore class at an assembly, and sent a letter home to parents, informing them, in part, "It is unknown if the person who created this account is a student at WHS or elsewhere, male or female, or an adult in or outside of our community."

Administrators are urging parents to talk to their children about the permanence of the Internet, and the lasting implications of social media.
