BOSTON (CBS) – The United States Coast Guard is telling swimmers and boaters to be careful as Tropical Storm Hermine threatens to bring heavy rain and strong winds to New England for the Labor Day weekend.

The Coast Guard says sailors should make sure their boats are secure and to avoid unnecessary trips out to sea if the weather gets stormy. Boaters should also make sure there’s enough life jackets on board, and file a float plan with someone on land.
