Patriots Reportedly Shopping Aaron Dobson

BOSTON (CBS) -- It sounds like the New England Patriots are ready to move on from wide receiver Aaron Dobson.

According to theMMQB.com's Albert Breer, the Pats are shopping Dobson on the trade market.

Dobson has been a disappointment since New England drafted him in the second round of the 2013 draft out of Marshall. In his three seasons with the Patriots, Dobson has caught just 53 passes for 698 yards. All four of his touchdowns came in his rookie year, when he played in 12 games, and injuries have caused him to miss 20 games over the last two seasons.

This preseason, Dobson has six receptions for 86 yards on nine targets.

The New England depth chart at receiver is a bit crowded, even with injuries to Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and rookie Malcolm Mitchell. In addition to those three, newcomer Chris Hogan, Keshawn Martin, DeAndre Carter, Chris Harper and Devin Lucien are vying to catch passes from Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo when the regular season begins.
