Authorities Identify Victims In Ashby Apparent Murder-Suicide

ASHBY (AP) — Authorities have released the names of a man and a woman who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office says 51-year-old Rebecca Griffin, of Fitchburg, and 55-year-old John Griffin were found on the front lawn of John Griffin's home in Ashby on Friday afternoon.

Authorities say the two had been divorced for years, but Rebecca Griffin would stop by her ex-husband's home to help him with errands.

The district attorney's office says it appears John Griffin stabbed Rebecca Griffin to death, before fatally stabbing himself.

A motive remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
