Libertarian Candidates Johnson, Weld Rally Backers In Boston

BOSTON (AP) — Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson and his running mate, one-time Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, are rallying supporters in Boston.

The two former Republican governors say they better reflect the values of ordinary Americans than either the Republican or Democratic candidates.

The two spoke to hundreds of supporters at a rally Saturday on Boston Common, just steps from where Weld served as the state's chief executive in the 1990s.

The two say they're on their way to gaining enough support in public opinion polls to secure the 15 percent needed to guarantee a spot on the debate stage with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

The pair described themselves as fiscally conservative but socially liberal when it comes to issues like same-sex marriage, abortion rights, gun rights, and legalizing drugs like marijuana.
