BOSTON (CBS) – It’s time to go back to school!

The cost of supplies can add up fast, so we’re doing the comparison shopping for you to find the best bargains in this week’s WBZ-TV Summer of Savings.

We had 8 basic items on our list:

Pens, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, notebook, binder, folder, and headphones.

We hit four online stores to see who had the best deals.

For many of the items the stores were within a few cents of each other.

But there were some bargains.

Walmart offers a 24-pack of crayons for just 50-cents, compared to $2.50 and up at other stores.

Target was a dollar cheaper than any other store when it came to binders.

Both Target and Walmart were offering deals on 5-subject notebooks.

Overall, we found Walmart had the best deal on our items, coming in at $24.84.

Target was a close second at $27.58, followed by Staples and CVS.

To save even more, be sure to shop from home before you head out to the store.

And follow these steps:

1. Search for coupons
2. Make a list
3. Create a budget
4. Explore store price matching

If you see an item selling for less somewhere else, ask them to meet the deal.
