Report: Patriots Cutting Center Bryan Stork

BOSTON (CBS) -- In a bit of a surprising move, the Patriots will reportedly release center Bryan Stork on Wednesday.

Stork was drafted by New England in the fourth round in 2014, and helped solidify the offensive line as a rookie when he became the starter early in the season. He was their starting center for 11 regular season games that year, and was snapping the ball to quarterback Tom Brady in the Patriots' Super Bowl XLIX victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

But the 25-year-old has had a long history with concussions, dating back to his college days at Florida State, and began the 2015 season on the short-term IR. He suffered another concussion last month in training camp.

With Wednesday's reported move, the starting center job will likely go to David Andrews, who did a stellar job starting in Stork's place in 2015. Guards Josh Kline, Joe Thuney and Ted Karras could also see some time at center.

In addition to cutting Stork, the Patriots are also reportedly parting ways with veteran receiver Nate Washington.

UPDATE: After informing Stork of his impending release, the Patriots ended up trading Stork to the Redskins for a conditional draft pick.
