Chris Young Off Disabled List, In Red Sox Lineup Vs. Rays

BOSTON (CBS) -- Chris Young is off the disabled list and in the Red Sox lineup Monday night.

Young, on the DL since June 24 with a right hamstring strain, is playing left field and batting seventh for Boston as they kick off a four-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays in St. Petersburg.

The righty played in seven rehab games for the Pawtucket Red Sox, going 5-for-23 (.217) with two doubles, two RBIs, and two runs scored in four starts in left field and three at designated hitter. For the season, the 32-year-old has hit .277 with 12 doubles, six home runs, 15 RBIs, in 48 games for Boston.

To make room for Young on the roster, pitcher Henry Owens was optioned to Pawtucket. The lefty took the loss in a spot start Sunday in Detroit, allowing eight runs off six hits and five walks in Boston's 10-5 loss to the Tigers.

With Young manning left field and Jackie Bradley Jr. getting the night off, rookie Andrew Benintendi will get his start in center for Boston.
