Patriots' Support 'Meant The World' To Nate Ebner During Olympic Journey

FOXBORO (CBS) – Patriots special teams standout Nate Ebner spoke to reporters Sunday for the first time since his return from the Olympics in Brazil, where he played with the United States rugby team.

Ebner reflected on his time in Rio, and the grueling training that led up to the Olympics.

Throughout the process, Ebner said he was blown away by the support of his coaches, teammates and the rest of the Patriots organization.

"Just from the amount of support that my teammates showed me texting me, calling me, and seeing how things are going," Ebner said. "Even the coaches, the support they showed me through the whole thing, not just the Olympics, but all the other tours and asking me how my journey was going. I can't say enough about these guys here. It meant the world to me to have that support, especially in a very difficult training environment."

Ebner said it was difficult to compare his experience at the Olympics to his previous experience playing for the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

He added that he was "just taking the whole thing in" during the Olympics.

It appears that Ebner brought the New England Patriots mentality with him to Brazil.

"We just came to do a job," Ebner said when asked if he got to spend time with any other well-known athletes at the games.
