Julian Edelman Returns To Practice In Full Pads

FOXBORO (CBS) – The Patriots had several players return to practice on Sunday, though one in particular stood out.

Julian Edelman was taken off the PUP list and was in full pads on the Gillette Stadium practice field for the first time this season.

"I'm day-to-day right now, so I'm a day better than yesterday," he told reporters after the session.

Edelman had been present in previous training camp sessions, but without pads.

"[There's] a lot of significance [in putting on pads]; you've got to get your football legs back in shape and you've got to have this extra weight on," Edelman explained. "It's about seven pounds, so it's good to get out here and run around with the pads and adjust to catching a ball with the shoulder pads, the helmet, the face mask; going out there and trying to get tired, as tired as possible with the pads on so you can get used to the games and stuff."

In addition to Edelman, tight end Clay Harbor and offensive lineman Tre' Jackson also were back the field along with wide receiver Nate Washington and running back Donald Brown.

Edelman is recovering from a Jones fracture in his left foot that he suffered against the Giants last season.
