Homes In Wealthier Neighborhoods Have More Bugs, Study Finds
BOSTON (CBS) -- Living in a nice neighborhood won't save you from bugs.
That's according to a new study published in the scientific journal "Biology Letters."
It's not just that homes in wealthier neighborhoods are larger and have bigger lawns. Researchers found it's what outside the home that makes the difference.
Richer neighborhoods tend to have more landscaping, and critters love the plants and shrubs.
The study involved tracking down living and dead bugs inside 50 homes around Raleigh, North Carolina.
"Our work suggests that the management of neighbourhoods and cities can have effects on biodiversity that can extend from trees and birds all the way to the arthropod life in bedrooms and basements," the scientists wrote.
