2 Drivers Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-495

MANSFIELD (CBS) - Two people were killed in a head-on crash apparently caused by a driver going the wrong way on Interstate 495 in Mansfield early Wednesday morning.

The two cars collided in the southbound lanes near Exit 13 just after 2 a.m.

State Police said a 24-year-old woman from Middleboro was driving a Nissan Sentra northbound in the southbound lanes when she hit a Chevrolet Cruze head-on in the middle lane.

The woman and the driver of the Chevrolet, a 27-year-old man from Taunton, were pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers in either car.

"It has yet to be determined where the operator of the Nissan entered the highway and what other factors might have contributed to the cause of this crash," State Police said in a statement.

The names of both drivers have not been made public yet.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
