Revere Beach Sandsculpting Competition Underway

REVERE (CBS) – Beachgoers are flocking to Revere not just because of the New England heatwave.

The 2016 International Sandsculpting Festival is in full swing, bringing in competitors from across the country and beyond.

This year's theme is science, technology and innovation.

The festival got underway Friday and continues through Sunday.

Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony Saturday night.

Amateur competitions are scheduled for Sunday, with adults and children both invited to compete.

There will be fireworks Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m. and live music both Saturday and Sunday.
