MBTA Bus Involved In Collision In Revere

REVERE (CBS) -- Two cars and an MBTA bus were involved in a crash Wednesday morning.

It happened around 9:55 a.m. at Oak Island Street and North Shore Road.

Police said the bus was stopped to let people off when a green sedan tried to pass it. They said that sedan hit a silver SUV, causing the SUV to careen across several yards and take out a street sign and flag pole before coming to a rest in someone's front lawn.

Police said about 10 people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They included some of the passengers on the bus, as well as the driver of one of the vehicles.

"They were shocked, because of the way the impact happened with the green car on the side of the bus," one witness told WBZ-TV's Christina Hager. "Thank god everybody was not hurt that bad."

Some of the people who live along North Shore Road said traffic and frequent crashes on the road have them concerned.

Police said it wasn't yet known if any charges would be filed.
