State Police Rescue Dog From Locked SUV In NH

HOOKSETT, NH (CBS) – A North Dighton woman was arrested for animal cruelty after she allegedly left her dog locked inside a hot SUV.

State Police say 41-year-old Amy Rose left her dog inside her SUV at the Hooksett, NH rest stop off I-93 on Friday afternoon.

It was 95 degrees and witnesses tell State Police the dog had been in the car for 30-40 minutes. The windows were up and the engine was off.

"A search of the area for the dog's owner was initially unsuccessful while the dog was visibly in distress," State Police said.

Troopers forced their way into the car with an unlocking tool and rescued the chocolate lab named Breelyn.

Rose was eventually located and charged with Cruelty to Animals. She is due in court in August.
