Mosquitoes With West Nile Virus 'Present Throughout' Brookline
BROOKLINE (CBS) – Health officials are warning residents after mosquitoes in Brookline tested positive for West Nile virus.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health found the mosquitoes that tested positive in traps in South Brookline.
As a result, the town's risk level has been placed at moderate and the virus is believed to be "present throughout the town."
Residents are asked to use bug spray and avoid bites by wearing long-sleeved shirts, long pants and socks when mosquitoes are most active between dusk and dawn.
Baby carriages and playpens should be covered with netting when outside.
Brookline residents are also being asked to remove standing water in yards where mosquitoes are likely to breed.
