1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized Following Dorchester Shooting

BOSTON (CBS) – One person was killed and another injured Thursday morning in a Dorchester shooting.

Boston Police confirmed that the shooting occurred just after 11:30 a.m. on Hancock Street.

A man in his 20s was killed during the violent incident and another woman suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police believe the woman may have just been walking by when she was shot in the foot.

The woman was taken to Boston Medical Center.

Police have not yet released their identifications.

Boston Police Superintendent in Chief William Gross said it does not appear to have been a random act of violence.

"There may have been an argument, and unfortunately afterwards a shooting occurred," Gross said.

The investigation into the shooting remains active.

So far, witnesses have not provided information regarding the shooting. Gross asked the community to come forward.

"These senseless acts of violence shouldn't be tolerated, another daytime shooting," said Gross. "If anyone saw anything, please come forward and help us out."
