Stewart: Durant Passes On Building Celtics Legacy But Doesn't Ruin Boston's Weekend

BOSTON (CBS) -- As a Celtics fan, I'm pissed at Kevin Durant. I'm pissed at the Golden State Warriors.
Tom Brady walks into a room, and Durant says no to him.
Who does that?
I'm biased. I grew up here. I live here. But step back for a moment -- in your life, we leave current jobs because we're miserable, we're getting an insane pay raise or we're getting a promotion.
Golden State is a promotion for Kevin Durant. He's becoming part of the second-best team in the NBA and the best team in the Western Conference. Cleveland and Golden State are the only teams where he could have gotten a promotion.
In Boston, Kevin Durant could have started a legacy.
The Celtics should be proud. They got in the room and threw their best pitch at Kevin Durant. (I bet they had a rib eye, Mazz.)
I, among others, said the Lakers presented a better situation than the Celtics. I was wrong. The Lakers couldn't get in the room with Durant. The Celtics did. The Celtics signed Al Horford, while the Lakers spent "A" money on "C" players.
With Al Horford, Plan B should be easier. Call OKC and ask for Russell Westbrook. Call the Bulls back about Jimmy Butler. Call Sacramento on DeMarcus Cousins. Hell, call New Orleans and ask about Anthony Davis.
In this moment, we as Celtics fans are pissed and sad, but the Celtics had a good weekend. They could have had a great weekend but this entire weekend was a step in the right direction toward Banner 18.
