Half A Million Turn Out For Boston's Fourth Of July Celebration

BOSTON (CBS) – The Fourth of July in Boston never disappoints.

From the Pops, to the headline acts, to the crowds and the weather – this year was no exception.

More than 500,000 people lined both sides of the Charles River Monday night to see the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, boosted this year by the star power of Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato and Little Big Town.

"It's amazing. I'm so glad we came here," Danielle Butters said.

Smokey Hoffman, of Marshfield, wasn't familiar with some of the younger acts like Lovato, but that didn't put a damper on his evening.

"It's fantastic," he said. "It's just good to be here celebrating our country."

From the Oval, to the banks of the Charles, there really wasn't any such thing as a bad seat.

"It honestly is exciting," said Honeywell Omobbo, sitting toward the back. "Everything, it's so cool."

The show is a little different every year, but so many always leave rediscovering their love for their country, and Boston.

"It's just a great day where everybody is an American and we can all get along," Hoffman said.
